Our Story
It didn't start with a grand plan. It started with me sitting on the floor, holding my dog's face in my hands, wondering why his breath smelled so awful. Not the "I've been digging in the garden" smell – I'm used to that – but something sour, heavy. The kind that makes you frown without realizing it.
Then I saw it. A dull brown layer along his teeth, clinging to the edges. And it wasn't going away. Week after week, it got worse.
I started picturing the vet visit… the anesthetic… the bill. And my stomach just said no. I didn't want to put him through that unless I absolutely had to.
So I did what any worried dog owner does – I went on a shopping spree. Toothbrushes, gels, sprays, strange little powders you sprinkle on their food. Some he flat-out refused. Others he tolerated once and never again. Every time I thought I'd found "the one," I'd check the label and see ingredients I couldn't even pronounce. And I'd put it back on the shelf.
One afternoon, after yet another failed attempt, I sat at the kitchen table with him asleep by my feet and thought: It can't be this hard. There must be a way to keep his teeth healthy that doesn't involve stress, drama, or questionable chemicals.
That was the moment VetPets really began. No investors. No board meetings. Just me, my dog, and the stubborn belief that there had to be something better.
What We Stand By
Our rule is brutally simple: If I wouldn't use it on my own dog, I won't sell it to yours.
No exceptions. It's the toughest standard we have – and the only one that matters.
We're not a giant company with ten layers of customer service. We're a small team of dog people. When you email us, it's one of us writing back. Probably with a dog snoring somewhere nearby. No scripts. No bots. Just us.
